Dad's Ramblings -- Parables of Jesus -- A Full House

PARABLES OF JESUS – A Full House
Luke 14:23-24

" 'Then the master said to the servant, "Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper." ' "

The Jews, as God's chosen people, had a very shallow view of God's eternal purpose – that the world would be saved. They only had room in their hearts for their own people, and thought that the Messiah would come to save them as a nation. In this parable, the invitation went first to those who knew the master of the house. But when they rejected, the invitation went to those who did not have close acquaintance with the master – people who were in the city and then to those who were outside. Some people have the same vision as the Pharisee. Their view of God's salvation is limited to those close to them – their family and friends. The larger view is that Jesus came to save the world. Jesus told His followers that they would be witnesses "in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost" (Acts 1:8). Some people are so focused on those close to them – friends and relatives and even their city – that they miss God's great plan of world missions. In heaven, His house will be filled with people redeemed "out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation" (Revelation 5:9). God's house will be filled. That is His heart and it should be mine also. On this Valentine's Day, may our love not be limited just to those close to us.

TODAY'S THOUGHT: Heaven will be filled with people from every part of the earth.

Have a "world vision" day. Love you.
