DAD'S RAMBLINGS -- GREATER

GREATER

Matthew 12:41-42

“ ‘The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here. … and indeed a greater than Solomon is here.’ ”

Even though the Lord Jesus is the greatest person in all of history, our generation does not have much respect for Him. The greatest Person who ever lived is counted as nothing except a convenient swear word. But as the song goes, “He is more than just a swear word, more than just an idle care word, He’s the precious Son of God.” When people stand before God on that great judgment day, they will be judged by their works (Revelation 20:12). But the real issue will be, “What did you do with Jesus?” The writer to the Hebrews caught a glimpse of the greatness of Jesus when he wrote that Jesus was better than the angels, better than the old covenant with its sacrifices, who brought better promises, better hope, better resurrection, and a better country (13 “betters” in all). The Jesus I love and serve is greater and better than anything in this world. Even though this generation considers Jesus as nothing special, eternity will declare His great majesty.

TODAY’S PRINCIPLE: Even though many people do not acknowledge the greatness of Jesus, eternity will reveal how wonderful He is.

Have a “great” day. Love you.
