EMPTY
Matthew 12:43-45
“ ‘When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, “I will return to my house from which I came.” And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it be with this wicked generation.’ ”
This is probably why secular programs for drug and alcohol addictions, are not successful. Another example is incarceration; the recidivism rate is very high. People may go through withdrawal and be “clean” for awhile, but if the spirit is not filled with God, they remain spiritually empty and eventually go back to their addiction – often worse than when they started. Teen Challenge, AA, Prison Fellowship, and other faith-based ministries are successful because they lead people to Jesus and the Holy Spirit takes up residence and dwells in them. We will not remain a vacuum. That is why it is so important to be filled with the Spirit, so that there is no room for other spirits of demonic oppression to find a place to occupy.
TODAY’S PRINCIPLE: Our spirit will not remain empty; it will be filled with something or Someone.

Have a “spirit-filled” day. Love you.
