Dad's Ramblings -- Watch Out!

THE PARABLES OF JESUS – Watch Out!
Matthew 25:10-13

" 'And while they [the foolish virgins] went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying "Lord, Lord, ope to us!" But he answered and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you." Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.' "

It seems to me that the meaning of this parable is very clear. When Jesus, the Bridegroom, comes, some will go with Him and others will not. The opportunity to go with Him will be closed. Those who espouse the doctrine of unconditional eternal security argue that the five who were foolish were never saved. But the parable says that they were virgins, at one time they had oil, and that they were waiting for the Bridegroom to come, which seems to me to illustrate that at one point they were all saved. But somehow the foolish virgins allowed their oil to wane and their lamps became dim, and they were left behind. Since we do not know the day nor the hour when the Lord Jesus will come, it will pay to be filled with the Holy Spirit and burning brightly.

TODAY'S THOUGHT: The experience of yesterday's oil will not be sufficient when Jesus comes.

Have a watching day. Love you.
