Dad's Ramblings -- Clothed

PARABLES OF JESUS – Clothed
Matthew 22:11-14

" 'But when the king came in to see the guests he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. So he said to him, "Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?" And he was speechless. Then the king said to the servants, "Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." For many are called but few are chosen.' "

It is my understanding that according to the custom of that time, the host would provide clothes for everyone who attended the wedding feast. Apparently, there was one guy who did not like the king's clothes, so he wore his own. When the king confronted him about his apparel, he had no excuses. We are all invited to the wedding, but we have to wear the clothes the King provides, not out own. By faith we are clothed in the righteousness of Christ instead of our own works of righteousness, which are filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). When I stand before God, I must be clothed, "... not having my own righteousness, which is from the law ... but the righteousness which is from God by faith" (Philippians 3:9). If I think my own rags are better than His, I will be rejected and I will have no excuse. "... My soul shall be joyful in my God; for He has covered me with the robe of righteousness ... as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with jewels" (Isaiah 61:10).

TODAY'S THOUGHT: God replaces the rags of our works with His own righteousness.

Have a "clothed" day. Love you.
