"Then came the Day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover must be killed."
Luke 22:7
Perhaps the richest and most precious type of Jesus in the Old Testament was the sacrifice of the Passover Lamb for the covering of sin. "The Passover (lamb) must be killed." There was no other provision for paying the penalty of sin – not good works, not keeping a ritual, not a blessing from the Levitical priest – but the shedding of the blood of a lamb. Paul called Jesus "our Passover" (I Corinthians 5:7). "Behold the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world" (John 1:29).
Today's Thought: The Passover had to die. There was no other way.
