GOD’S AMAZING GRACE
Matthew 19:27-30
“Then Peter answered and said to Him, ‘See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore, what shall we have?’ So Jesus said to them, ‘Assuredly I say to you, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones judging Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or other or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.’”
Peter still didn’t get it. Do I sense some pride in Peter’s voice – “Look how much we have sacrificed. Surely the fact that we have give up everything to follow You must be worth something!” Jesus assured him that there will be rewards for sacrifice, but that salvation is not earned, because it is a gift that is not dependent on my sacrifice. As I look at Christians who have sacrificed a lot, I think that surely when they will get to heaven they will have great prestige and position. Then I look at my puny offerings and am humbled. In heaven, those who are great will be last because it is all of grace. It is not what I am, what I have, and what I do. It is what Jesus has done – His great sacrifice. Salvation is truly “amazing grace.”
TODAY’S PRINCIPLE: Status in this life is not an indicator of status in heaven.

Have another “amazing” day. Love you.
