A PICTURE GRACE
Genesis 42:25
"Then Joseph gave a command to fill their sacks with grain, to restore every man's money to his sack, and to give them provisions for the journey. Thus he did for them."
What a picture of grace!!! These brothers did not deserve anything but retribution for the evil they had done to Joseph. But Joseph did not repay them evil for evil, perhaps for the sake of their father. Instead he filled their sacks with good things, restored their money to them, and gave them additional provisions for their journey. How much like the Lord Jesus, Who, for the sake of the Father, fills my life with good things, restores, and gives provision for my journey to Heaven. God calls me to be such a person of grace also. It is a great challenge to be gracious when other people are not. My natural tendency is to get even. But God says, "Repay no one evil for evil .... Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good" (Romans 12:17, 21). Lord Jesus, help me to be gracious like You.
TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: Grace does not repay evil for evil, but responds to evil with good.
