DAD'S RAMBLINGS -- SEEING HIS FACE

 SEEING HIS FACE
Genesis 43:1-3

"Now the famine was severe in the land. And it came to pass, when they had eaten up the grain which they had brought from Egypt, that their father said to them, 'Go back, bring us a little food.' But Judah spoke to him, saying, 'The man solemnly warned us, saying, "You shall not see my face unless your brother is with you." ' "

Joseph had the right and the authority to make the rules. The only way to see his face again was to bring Benjamin. Jacob didn't like the mandate. It would mean admitting his own need, giving up Benjamin – the pride and joy of his life, and submitting to Joseph's demand. Their future depended on doing it Joseph's way. There were only two options: trust in the sacrifice of Benjamin or die in the famine. There was no other choice. He had to do it Joseph's way. In effect, Benjamin became the payment required to come to Joseph. God has set the requirement for us to see His face. It is admitting our own need, giving up everything that is dear to us – our pride and our joy, and trusting the payment Christ has made. People may not like God's mandate, but there is no other option if I want to see His face. My future depends on doing it God's way. Either I submit to His plan or I will die in my sins.

TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: The only way to see God's face is to come God's way – through faith in Jesus.

Have a trusting day. Love you.
