EVERYTHING IS AGAINST ME
Genesis 42:29, 36
"Then they went to Jacob their father in the land of Canaan and told him all that had happened to them......And Jacob their father said to them, 'You have bereaved me: Joseph is no more, Simeon is no more, and you want to take Benjamin. All these things are against me.' "
Situation after situation kept piling on Jacob. The brothers even wanted to take away from him one of the most valuable things in his life – his youngest child. Jacob thought everything was going against him, and he became depressed. One of the symptoms of depression is loss of hope that things will get better. He could not see that God had a special plan in all of this. It is hard to live in Romans 8:28 – that God works everything together for good – when all I see is loss and destruction. But that is where faith enters the picture. We do walk by faith and not by sight (II Corinthians 5:7). Faith trusts God has a plan and a purpose, even in the dark times of life when everything seems to be going wrong. "If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31).
TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: When everything goes against us, we can be sure that God is in control.

Have a trusting day. Love you.
