Dad's Ramblings -- Three PPPS In The Offering

THREE PPPS IN THE OFFERING
I Corinthians 16:1-2

"Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come."

Giving is a part of Christian discipline. Yet many people are haphazard in their giving and do not have a plan. Paul advocates – indeed commands ("you must do") – a plan for giving. This plan involves Purpose ("for the saints"), Preparation ("lay something aside"), Proportion ("as he may prosper"), and being Systematic ("on the first day of the week"). That's where the tithe given each payday comes in handy. Because it is proportionate and systematic, it does not depend on one's feelings. As with anything else that is worthwhile, giving probably won't happen without a plan.

TODAY'S THOUGHT: Our giving to God should not be haphazard but systematic.

Have a giving day. Love you.
