THE LORD WILLING
I Corinthians 16:5-7
"Now I will come to you when I pass through Macedonia ... And it may be that I will remain, or even spend the winter with you, that you may send me on my journey wherever I go. For I do not wish to see you now on the way, but I hope to stay a while with you, if the Lord permits."
None of us knows the future for certain – what tomorrow or next year may hold. The future is fuzzy, filled with "wherever" and "may be." As we make our plans based on our wishes, hopes, and desires, we need to allow for what the Lord permits, because life has a way of throwing us curves. As James wrote, we say we will do this or that, or go here or there, when we ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that" (James 4:13-15). The Christian can rest in the confidence that "My times are in Your hand" (Psalm 31:15).
TODAY'S THOUGHT: The future rests in God's will and permission.
May today be a day of resting in God's will. Love you.
