THE POWER OF THE CROSS
I Corinthians 1:18, 21
"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who believe it is the power of God .... For since in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe."
God does a lot of things that don't make sense to the human mind. If God had to conform to my understanding, he would not be the King of the Universe. He would be my servant. That is why the unbeliever cannot know God – he wants someone he can control. God is God, and will be God in everything He does be, even if it does not make sense to human logic. The world's wisdom perceives the cross as foolishness. The believer knows its power to transform lives.
TODAY'S THOUGHT: The message of the cross is powerful, even if it does not conform to worldly wisdom.
