ENRICHED WITH SPIRITUAL GIFTS
I Corinthians 1:4-7a
"I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus, that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and knowledge even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, so that you came short in no gift...."
God had blessed the congregation at Corinth, despite all its problems, with a rich supply of the manifestation of the spiritual gifts (I Corinthians 12:7-10). They were lacking none of them. These spiritual gifts were evidence that the Gospel had indeed done its work or salvation in them, even though their spiritual condition was not very mature. The fact that they were open to the spiritual gifts caused Paul to be very thankful. When God uses people in spiritual gifts (whether tongues and interpretation or prophecy or some other gift), I'll admit that my response is not always thankfulness. I sometimes have envy which causes me to be critical of the person – that their spiritual condition is not worthy of expressing God's gifts. But God does not use people because they are worthy, but because they are available to be used. O God, here I am with all my inadequacies. Use me!!!
TODAY'S THOUGHT: Demonstrations of spiritual gifts are not evidence of my goodness but evidence
of God's grace.
Have an enriched day. Love you.
