OBEDIENT IN ALL THINGS
II Corinthians 2:6-9
"This punishment which was inflicted by the majority is sufficient for such a man, so that, on the contrary, you ought rather to forgive and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one be swallowed up with too much sorrow. Therefore I urge you to reconfirm your love to him. For to this end I also wrote, that I might put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things."
Obedience to Paul's exhortation was a test of their commitment to godly standards of holiness. The majority responded by disciplining the sinner in their congregation. But what about the rest of the people? Did they have the attitude of, "What's the big deal? We are all sinners and have weaknesses in our lives." Were they so casual about sin that they could accommodate flagrant violation of God's standards with no sorrow? We live in a casual culture that accepts almost anything, even if it is in direct violation of God's word. I recently attended a church which has three Sunday morning services – a Traditional Worship, a Contemporary Worship, and a Casual Worship (according to the bulletin). Casual Worship? How can we be casual in our worship of the God of the Universe? I understand that it probably referred to casual dress, but what we wear is an outward witness of a heart-attitude. We live in a casual culture, and it is reflected in our attitude toward God. I'll worship Him when and how I feel like it if it is comfortable and does not demand too much of me. This attitude affects our service to Him and obedience to His Word. If God is truly God, then He deserves more than casual worship, casual obedience, and casual holiness.
TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: If God is really important, He is worth more than casual worship and casual obedience.

Have an obedient day. Love you.
