ABOUNDING CONSOLATION
II Corinthians 1:5
"For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation (paraklesis) also abounds through Christ."
I really don't know what suffering for Christ is like. I may have endured some minor rejection or ridicule, but nothing like the beatings and torture believers in other cultures and generations have suffered for their faith in the Lord Jesus. Most of my suffering has probably been a result of my own doings. But even in my insignificant trials, the Holy Spirit – the Paraclete – has been there to support, strengthen, and encourage my faith. The consolation is proportionate to the severity of the trial, and abounds in greater suffering.
TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: The Holy Spirit is present to console, strengthen, and encourage the believer who is persecuted because of faith in the Lord Jesus, in proportion to the severity of the suffering.
[end]
Have a "consolation" day. Love you.
