Dad's Ramblings -- PARABLES OF JESUS -- Partiality

PARABLES OF JESUS – Partiality
Luke 18:3-4a

" 'Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, "Get justice for me from my adversary." And he would not for awhile.....' "

Lady Justice is supposed to be blindfolded, and not influenced by the status of the person. But let's face it; a widow is poor and has no standing in the community. I can almost guarantee that if the petitioner had been a rich man with prestige, the judge would have heard the grievance quickly. It seems that the more money and celebrity a person has, the greater the chance for a favorable verdict. The LORD is a God of justice (Isaiah 30:18) and He loves justice (Isaiah 61:8). Judges aside, we all judge people. It is so easy to form opinions based on the person's appearance or status. God commands: "You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality" (Deuteronomy 16:19). Our judgments need to be without favoritism or partiality that is based on the person's celebrity or they way they look.

TODAY'S THOUGHT: Justice should be blind to societal position.

Have an "impartial" day. Love you.
