PARABLES OF JESUS – "I" Disease
Luke 18:11-12
" 'The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, "God I thank You that I am not like other men – extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all I possess." ' "
The Pharisee had "I" disease. All he could talk about was how good he was and what he did, but he never confessed his sin of pride. A proud man can only pray "with himself" because God does not listen to his prayers; He resists the proud (I Peter 5:5). People who compare themselves with other people are not wise (II Corinthians 10:12). I am humbled when I compare myself to God's standard and I understand how far I fall short of measuring up (Romans 3:23). Thank God for His grace.
TODAY'S THOUGHT: God does not listen to the prayers of people with "I" disease.
Have a humble day. Love you.
