PARABLES OF JESUS – The Sob of the Repentant
Luke 18:13
" 'And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, "God be merciful to me a sinner!" ' "
I can hear the sob in the tax-collector's voice. This is no mass prayer repeated by the congregation after the preacher. It is a heart-felt, gut-wrenching cry from a desperate heart who knows he is a sinner before a holy God. These are the kind of prayers that God likes to hear. "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite spirit – These, O God, You will not despise" (Psalm 51:17).
TODAY'S THOUGHT: God hears the sob of the repentant.
Have a "heart-felt" day. Love you.
