PARABLES OF JESUS -- Entitlements

PARABLES OF JESUS – Entitlements
Matthew 20:2

"Now when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard."

To summarize the parable, various groups of workers were called at different times of the day – some in the early morning, some at noon, some at 3 o'clock, and some at 5 o'clock. When evening came and it was time to settle their pay, the owner rewarded them all the same. Those who had worked all day in the heat complained because they thought they should have received more. How like some Christians who have served the Lord for many years, toiling in the heat of the vineyard, and feel they are entitled to more blessings and benefits that the new Christian.  Entitlement will produce a bad spirit of envy, complaining, anger and rebellion if the expectations are not met. Just look at the riots in Greece and Spain when the entitlements were removed. I need to beware lest I get a sense of entitlement and complain when another believer seems to be blessed more than me.  Jesus has saved me -- that's enough!

TODAY'S THOUGHT: A feeling of entitlement will produce a negative spirit.

Have a blessed day. Love you.
