PARABLES OF JESUS – The Treasure
Matthew 13:44
"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid, and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field."
There are two ways to interpret this parable. In the first, a person seeks all his life for something to give meaning to his life and to satisfy the deep longing inside. When he finds Jesus – the treasure of treasures – and the salvation He gives, he gives up all that he has in order to obtain it. The second, and probably the better, is that Jesus sought and found me – a sinner out in the field of sin – and gave His all so that I would belong to Him. "...For the joy that was set before Him [He] endured the cross, despising the shame" (Hebrews 12:2). The fact is that Jesus sought me to be in His kingdom more than I sought Him. Now I am "hid with Christ in God" (Colossians 3:3). Now I belong to Jesus. Oh, what a wonderful Savior!!!
TODAY'S THOUGHT: Jesus sought me to be in His kingdom.
Have a "treasured" day. Love you.
