SIGNS OF THE TIMES
Matthew 17:10-13
“And His disciples asked Him, saying ‘Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?’ Jesus answered and said to the, ‘Elijah is coming first and will restore all things. But Elijah has come already, and they did not know him, but did to him whatever they wished. Likewise the Son of Man is also about to suffer at their hands.’ Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them about John the Baptist.”
Even though John the Baptist had declared that he had come to “prepare the way of the Lord” (Mathew 3:3), neither the disciples nor the rest of the Jews understood that he was the prophetic voice of Elijah. His life and death was a sign that the coming of the Messiah was at hand. Only when Jesus opened their understanding did the disciples see how JB fit into the picture. So it is today. We have many signs around us that point to the soon the return of the Lord Jesus, but people do not understand them. It takes spiritual understanding to see. Open my eyes, Lord.
TODAY’S PRINCIPLE: Spiritual revelation is necessary to understand the signs of the times.
