DAD'S RAMBLINGS -- NO SURPRISES

NO SURPRISES

Matthew 17:22-23

“Now while they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, ‘The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him, and the third day He will be raised up. And they were exceeding sorrowful.”

Many stories have a surprise ending. Jesus did not want His disciples to be surprised by what was going to happen, so He warned them that His life would end tragically. I would be sorrowful, too, if someone close to me said, “I’m going to die soon.” The word “cancer” brings that kind of response because it seems synonymous with death. But the disciples apparently did not hear the last part – that He would rise again – and they were surprised by His resurrection. Even after they went to the empty tomb on Easter morning, they could not believe it. Hear this! I am going to die (hopefully not too soon). Don’t be surprised. But hear the rest of the story (ala Paul Harvey): I will live again! “Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5).

TODAY’S PRINCIPLE: Death is not a surprise and neither is life after death for the Believer.

Have a “warned” day. Love you.
