NEW CLOTHES
II Corinthians 5:2-4
"For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life."
This is a glorious thing. When I get to heaven, I will not be running around naked, but God will give me new clothes. Here's the deal. I will not lose the personhood of my human existence. I will still be John Schiewek. It is not like I will lose any of my God-given characteristics or personality. The difference will be that I will be glorified by adding a new dimension – immortality. The Lord Jesus did this in reverse when He left the glory of heaven to be clothed in human flesh (Philippians 2:7). He did not lose any of his divinity. It did not change the essential being of who He was. He merely added a new dimension – the limitations of humanity, including death. I will never become God, but I will shed the limitations that I have as a mortal being. Now I groan under the weight of my humanity, being burdened with the clothes of all my weaknesses and failings. In heaven, I will be freed to be all that God intended me to be – clothed with real life. What a day that will be!!!
TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: In heaven, we will still be who we were on earth, but with the added dimension of eternal life.

Have a heavenly day. Love you.
