DAD'S RAMBLINGS – Doubtful Things
Romans 14:1-2
"Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things. For one believes he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats only vegetables."
Doubtful things are personal beliefs that have no clear injunction in Scriptures – like vegetarianism. Where the Bible is firm, I need to be firm. But where the Bible is not explicit, I need to allow for personal belief, as long as it does not contradict Scripture. The basis of fellowship with other believers is not personal belief or even minor points of doctrine (like keeping the Sabbath). Unity in Christ is based in the Salvation provided through His sacrificial death and resurrection, and our faith in Him as Savior. Disagreement about minor things should not become a source of friction between believers that disrupts fellowship.
TODAY'S THOUGHT: Christians should not get into disputes with other Christians about minor things but rejoice in their common salvation.
Have a "receiving" day. Love you.
