"When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice;
But when a wicked man rules, the people groan."
Proverbs 29:2
Say the word "groan" out loud, and you can feel the weight and oppression expressed by the word. The Children of Israel were in this state under the Pharaohs of Egypt. As slaves, they were misused and abused. But "God heard their groaning" (Exodus 2:24) and sent a deliverer. Americans are presently in a "groaning" season. As Christians, we have the hope that "weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning" (Psalm 30:5).
Today's Thought: Though we groan under the weight of the present, we can rejoice in the hope of the future.
Have a rejoicing day. Love you.
