DAD'S RAMBLINGS -- TRUE LOVE

 TRUE LOVE
I Peter 1:2

"Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love for the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart."

Love that is sincere, fervent, and pure is a high standard. It is love that is without hypocrisy, fervent or earnest, and clean from corrupt desires. It seems that much of what we call "love" does not meet that criteria. Commonly, love is based in selfish motives of what I can get back, even if it is just a word of thanks and appreciation. Jesus gave the illustration of the Good Samaritan. The Samaritan's love was not dependent on any kind of repayment. It sprang from pure, intense desire to minister to the other person's needs. Lord, Jesus, help me to love purely, and not for what I can get in return.

TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: Pure, unhypocritical love, is based in another person's needs, and not in what I can get in return.

[end]

Have a "pure love" day. Love you.
