DAD'S RAMBLINGS -- STRIPPED

 STRIPPED
Genesis 37:22-24a

"And Reuben said to them, 'Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit which is in the wilderness, and do not lay a hand on him' – that he might deliver him out of their hands, and bring him back to his father. So it came to pass, when Joseph had come to his brothers, that they stripped Joseph of his tunic, the tunic of many colors that was on him. Then they took him and cast him into a pit."

Stripped! Joseph's coat of many colors was his identity as a favored son. In their envy and hatred, his brothers stripped him of his personhood, and threw him under the bus, so to speak. But that did not change who Joseph was – Jacob's son. Even Jesus was stripped and thrown into a pit, but that did not change Who He was – the Son of God. When people strip me of my dignity, humiliate me, put me down, and throw me into the pit, I need to remember who I am – a child of the living God! No one can take that away from me.  "Who can separate me from the love of Christ? .... I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:35-39).  And I have an Elder Brother who is acting on my behalf to deliver me and bring me home to the Father.

TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: A Christian may be humiliated, put down, and stripped of his dignity, but his position as a child of God can never be take away.

Have a secure day. Love you.
