THE PARABLES OF JESUS – The Seeking Shepherd
Matthew 18:12
"What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying?"
A common understanding among Christians is that they "found" Christ. Actually, the reality is the very opposite. Jesus sought and found us. The fact is that "all we like sheep have gone astray. We have turned everyone to his own way" (Isaiah 53:6). If He had not left heaven – leaving all His angels – to come to earth, we could never be saved. And the Good Shepherd still comes in the Person of the Holy Spirit to seek us out and draw us to Himself. Salvation is God's work from beginning to end. I can only respond to His love by letting the Shepherd pick me up and carry me in His arms. "For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost" (vs. 11).
TODAY'S THOUGHT: The Good Shepherd seeks those who have gone astray.
Have a "found" day. Love you.
