Dad's Ramblings -- Forgiven

PARABLES OF JESUS – Forgiven
Matthew 18:28

"But that servant [who had been forgiven a huge debt] went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii (margin: $3,200); and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, 'Pay me what you owe.' "

What a display of ingratitude. He had been forgiven an enormous debt, yet he would not forgive another person a small debt. When the master heard what he had done, he called him, rebuked him, reinstated his debt, and handed him over to be tortured. Jesus explained the parable by saying, "So My heaven Father shall do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses" (vs. 35). Perhaps Paul had this in mind when he admonished believers to forgive one another even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven us (Ephesians 4:32). Forgiveness is serious business and it is hard work, but it is made easier when I think of how much God has forgiven me.

TODAY'S THOUGHT: We are to forgive just as we have been forgiven.

Have a forgiving day. Love you.
