"Now as they spoke to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them, being greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead."
Acts 4:1-2
Why would the religious leaders be so "disturbed" by the Apostles' teaching? I see two reasons: 1) their position as teachers was being threatened, and 2) their long-held beliefs were threatened. One would think that the religious leaders who knew the Scriptures and knew that the Resurrection was true would be the first to embrace the Messiah. Even today there are Bible teachers who are disturbed by the Baptism in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues even though it is clearly taught in Scripture. Perhaps they feel a threat to their positions or to their long-held theology that they have believed for many years. I need to be careful that I don't reject what God is doing simply because it doesn't fit into MY frame of reference, as long as it has a Scriptural basis.
Today's Thought: Some people are disturbed by God's work simply because they it threatens their positions as teachers or their long-
held cherished beliefs.
Have an open day to God's work. Love you.
