"But Peter arose and ran to the tomb; and stooping down, he saw the linen cloths lying by themselves; and he departed, marveling to himself at what had happened."
Luke 24:12
Peter went to the empty tomb to see for himself the miracle. But he didn't stay there; he departed. He did not make a shrine or even worship there. He did not build his life around the site of the miracle. In fact, there is no indication from Scripture or history that the tomb ever became a tourist attraction. As a child I visited Angeles Temple in Los Angeles where Amy Semple McPherson preached and where God did mighty miracles. I remember it as a museum dedicated to the memory of Amy. Scripture encourages memorials to remember His mighty visitations, but not shrines to worship at. We do not have to make pilgrimages to holy places to worship Jesus. He is present in our everyday lives.
Today's Thought: We worship the Person, not the place.
Have a worshiping day. Love you.
