Dad's Ramblings -- The Committed Spirit

"And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, 'Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.' Having said this, He breathed His last."

                                                Luke 23:46

What did Jesus cry out with a loud voice? Perhaps it was what John recorded: "It is finished" (John 19:30). Jesus had done all that the Father sent Him to do to secure our salvation. Now He could rest in death. Jesus echoed the words of David, where, in the midst of his own trials, he found the place of safety – "my rock and my fortress" – and said, "Into Your hand I commit my spirit" (Psalm 31:3-5). There is a place of rest in the time of trial when the spirit is committed to God.

Today's Thought: We can rest securely in God's hand when we commit ourselves to Him.

Have a committed day. Love you.
