Dad's Ramblings -- Out Of The Closet

"Now behold, there was a man named Joseph, a council member, a good and just man. He had not consented to their decision and deed. He was from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who himself was waiting for the kingdom of God. This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb that was hewn out of the rock, where no one had ever laid before."

                                             Luke 23:50-53

In his Gospel, John adds the fact that Joseph was a secret believer who was joined by Nicodemus, the same one Jesus had told "you must be born again" (See John 19:38-39). These two were Jewish leaders who kept their faith to themselves because of fear of peer pressure. It took Jesus' death to bring them "out of the closet." When push comes to shove, we can either make our faith public or we can go deeper into the closet. I admire Joseph and Nicodemus because they took a stand in the face of rejection and peril to their own lives.

Today's Thought: There comes a time when each of us must decide to confess our faith publicly.

Have an "out of the closet" day.  Love you.
