DAD'S RAMBLINGS -- MERCY ME!

 MERCY ME!
Matthew 5:7

"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy."

God calls me to be a person of mercy because mercy reflects God's nature. Jesus said, "Go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice' " (Matthew 9:13). In God's eyes, showing mercy is more important than fulfilling religious duties. There is a difference between mercy and grace. Grace is giving or receiving what I don't deserve. Mercy is not giving or receiving what I do deserve. I deserve punishment and hell for my sin. But God's mercy provided a way so that I don't have to receive His judgment. "It is the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning...." (Lamentations 3:22-23). Then His grace daily loads me with benefits which I don't deserve (Psalm 68:19). If I want to receive mercy, I must show mercy. It is God's law of sowing and reaping.

TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: Mercy begets mercy.

Have a merciful day. Love you.
