I NEED A LAXATIVE
Matthew 5:8
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."
What does it mean to be pure in heart? Does it mean to be sinless? The Greek word translated "pure" is katharos, the basis for our word "catharsis." A cathartic is a cleansing and purifying agent, a laxative that removes all the impurities and toxins in my system. It is like water that has been purified by reverse osmosis and has had all the foreign chemicals and minerals removed. My heart gets so filled with crud that hinders my relationship with God – anger, resentment, greed, wrong motives. I want more than just the cleansing of forgiveness; I need a heart-cleansing – a pure heart that is unadulterated by anything that would keep me from wholly loving and serving God. I cry with King David, "Purge me with hyssop ...Create in me a clean heart, O God" (Psalm 51:7, 10).
TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: A pure heart is free from toxic corruption.

Have a "pure heart" day. Love you.
