DAD'S RAMBLINGS -- A POOR EXCHANGE

 A POOR EXCHANGE
Matthew 4:8-9

"Again, the devil took Him upon an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, 'All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.' "

Satan promised Jesus everything He could see in exchange for worship. This corresponds to "the lust of the eyes" – all that is in the world (John 2:16). Jesus knew that His kingdom was not of this world (John 18:36). Satan is still using the same tactic to lure people away from serving God. He promises them everything they can see in this world – material things and political power – if they will serve him. But is the price worth it? "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Matthew 16:26). It is better to be a pauper and serve God than a rich man and be in bondage to Satan. As the old song says, "Take this whole world, but give me Jesus." I live in a different kingdom.

TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: There is a high price to pay for worshiping the things of this world and the god of this world.

Have a God-serving day. Love you.
