DAD'S RAMBLINGS -- THE MESSAGE AND THE MESSENGER

 THE MESSAGE AND THE MESSENGER
Matthew 3:4-6

"Now John himself was clothed in camel's hair, with a leather belt around his waist; and his food was locust and wild honey. Then Jerusalem, all Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him, and were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins."

What drew people to the wilderness to hear this preacher? He certainly wasn't the best dressed person in the world, nor did he go to the finest restaurants. In outward appearance, he was rather scruffy. It had to be his message that attracted people. It is easy for me to get my eyes on the outward criteria – how the preacher looks, how he speaks or writes, his use of the English language, how he organizes his sermon, how he relates with people – and miss the message. Lord, help me to not dismiss the message just because the messenger doesn't look dress well or speak well.

TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: The message is more important than the messenger.

Have a listening day. Love you.
