DAD'S RAMBLINGS -- God's People

DAD'S RAMBLINGS – God's People
Romans 11:1-2a

"I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew...."

There are some groups who believe that the Church has replaced Israel, and that the nation of Israel has no special place in God's plan for the future of this world. This doctrine requires that the Old Testament prophecies concerning Israel be either denied or allegorized. Paul argues that the root is still there. Because of unbelief, some of the branches have been broken off and new branches of believing Jews and Gentiles have been grafted in through faith in Christ (see verses 17-20). It is true that believing Gentiles have become children of Abraham and receive His blessings. But that does not mean that God is finished with Israel. John's Revelation confirms that God will still deal with Israel after the rapture of the Church. In the meantime, Christians are a part of the elect whom God calls His people.

TODAY'S THOUGHT: God has not forsaken His people, but He has opened a way for non-Jews to be branches of the root.

Have a "grafted in" day. Love you.
