DAD'S RAMBLINGS -- FACING THE FUTURE

FACING THE FUTURE

Matthew 20:22

“But Jesus answered and said, ‘You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?’ They said to Him, ‘We are able.’ ”

The disciples had no clue what Jesus was talking about when they said, “We are able.” He was facing His torture and death, and when crunch time came, they all deserted Him. They were not able in their own strength to drink the cup. Following Jesus to the cross takes more than my own strength and ability. I do not know what the future holds, but I do know that I cannot do it myself. I need God’s strength. Only with His power can I face the challenges ahead. But, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

TODAY’S PRINCIPLE: Following Jesus into the future requires His strength and power; I cannot do it in my own strength.

Have a “strengthened” day. Love you.
