THE TREASURE
Matthew 13:44
“ ‘Again the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.’ ”
This parable can be understood in two ways. Probably the most common is that Jesus is the treasure that, when a person finds, gives up all that he has to acquire that wonderful treasure. The second, and to my mind the most biblically accurate interpretation, is that we are the treasure that Jesus found while covered by the filth of this world. He paid a very great price for us – His very own life – to buy us as His own, bought with the precious blood of Christ (I Peter 1:18-19). His mission was to seek and to save the lost (Luke 19:10). He is the Good Shepherd who went out to find the lost sheep, and he has great joy when it is found (Luke 15:4-7). For the joy that was set before Him, He endured the cross (Hebrews 12:2). He rejoices over us with gladness and singing (Zephaniah 3:17). He sees value in me, even though I am a diamond in the rough. An old hymn says, “Oh, the love that sought me! Oh, the blood that bought me! Oh the grace that bought me to the fold, Wondrous grace that brought me to the fold.” Oh, what a Wonderful Savior!
TODAY’S PRINCIPLE: The Kingdom of Heaven is populated with treasures redeemed from the world.

Have a thankful day. Love you. You are a treasure.
