A SIMPLE MESSAGE
Matthew 11:1
"Now it came to pass, when Jesus finished commanding the twelve disciples, that He departed from there to teach and to preach in their cities."
Jesus taught and preached a simple message: "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand" (Matthew 4:17). He came "preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God" (Mark 1:14). So very many of his teachings began with "the kingdom of heaven is like...." He did not preach politics against the government of Rome. He did not preach social justice or economic equality. He did not preach a "prosperity gospel." He did not preach "10 Steps to a Better Life." His was a spiritual message rather than a world-centered message. It is so easy for the preacher to get distracted from the simple message of the gospel and cloud it with worldly issues. God, help me to keep Your message simple – repentance for sin, and heaven.
TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: The message of the Gospel is spiritual – not world-centered.
