DAD'S RAMBLINGS -- GREATER JUDGMENT

GREATER JUDGMENT

Matthew 11:20-21a, 23-24

“Then He began to rebuke the cities in which most of His mighty works had been done, because they did not repent: ‘Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! …. And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to the heaven, will be brought down to Hades; for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say to you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for you.’ ”

It is a biblical principle: To whom much has been given, much is required (Luke 12:48b). People and nations (groups of people) who have had the Gospel preached and have experienced God’s blessings, but have spurned it, will receive greater condemnation in the day of judgment than those who have not had such blessing. The citizens of America have had the Gospel preached in abundance and have experienced God’s blessings above any nation on earth, but has turned its back on God. When judgment comes – as it surely will (remember Sodom?), it will be more severe for America than for peoples who have not experienced such great blessing, unless they repent. My heart aches for my beloved nation.

TODAY’S PRINCIPLE: God will judge people and nations according to their response to the Gospel.

Have a responsive day. Love you.
