DAD'S RAMBLINGS – Persistent Prayer: A Demonstration of Faith
I Kings 7:20-22
"Then he cried out to the LORD and said, O LORD my God, have You also brought tragedy on the widow with whom I lodge, by killing her son?' And he stretched himself out on the child three times, and cried out to the LORD and said, 'O LORD my God, I pray, let this child's soul come back to him.' Then the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came back to him, and he revived."
Elijah cried out to God three times because he believed that God would hear his prayer. God's word is replete with examples of persistent prayer. Jesus Himself gave parables about asking more than once to illustrate that "men ought always to pray and not lose heart" (see Luke 18:1-8 and Luke 11:5-8). Paul prayed three time for his thorn in the flesh (II Corinthians 12:8). And we are to pray without ceasing (I Thessalonians 5:17). Persistent prayer is a demonstraton of faith.
TODAY'S THOUGHT: Praying for a need more than once is not a sign of lack of faith; indeed, it is a demonstration of faith.
Have a persistent day. Love you.
