"There was a man of Benjamin whose name was Kish...a mighty man of power [wealth]. And he had a choice and handsome son whose name was Saul. There was not a more handsome person than he among the children of Israel. From his shoulders up he was taller than any of the people."
I Samuel 9:1-2
Tall, dark, handsome, and rich. What a man!!! Sigh!! He must have been some specimen of humanity! I would be happy if I had any one of these things!!! But outward appearances are not a true indicator of inward character. It is interesting that people were not attracted to Jesus because he was "tall, dark, and handsome." In fact, Scripture says that "he had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him" Isaiah 53:2, NIV). To our regret, we often are attracted to people based on their charisma rather than their character (a la Bill Clinton).
Today's Thought: Inward character is more important than outward persona.
Have a character day. Love you.
