It was a bad time in her life. First the death of her husband and brother-in-law and then her father-in-law. Plus the capture of the Ark. Now she is dying, also. She must have been really depressed. No wonder she named her son such an "inglorious" name! (That's what Ichabod means.) It gets worse if you shorten it to "Ich." Parents sometimes name their children strange names, forgetting that the child has to live with it for life. I think if I was responsible for choosing a name for a son again, it would be "Christian."
