" 'But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen the brethren.' But he (Peter) said to Him, 'Lord, I am ready to go with you, both to prison and to death.' Then He said to him, 'I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know me.' "
Luke 22:32-34
Was this prayer of the Lord Jesus unanswered? The record shows that Peter did indeed fail – he failed to take a stand in his witness. But I don't believe that he lost his faith in Jesus. It is easy to declare my faith in the assembly of other believers. It is tougher when I am in the face of people hostile to the Gospel. I don't lose my faith, but I fail in my witness. But often ministry flows out of failure. When I return to the feet of Jesus in repentance and experience His grace and forgiveness, it gives greater compassion to strengthen other brothers who fail.
Today's Thought: I may fail in my witness, but Jesus still receives me when I return to Him.
Have a strengthened day. Love you.
