A PACKAGE DEAL
Matthew 10:40-42
" 'He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.' "
Bundling (as with phone, cable and internet) is not a new concept. Jesus bundled our relationship with God and other Christians into one package. When I received Jesus as Savior, I also got the Father, the Holy Spirit, and the Church. It is a package deal. So how I treat other Believers is how I treat God. When I bless another Christian with a simple act of kindness – even a cup of water – I am blessing God. Jesus taught this same thing when He said that if I clothe, feed, or give water to the thirsty fellow-believer, "...inasmuch as you did it to the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me" (Matthew 25:40b). The opposite is also true. When I mistreat another Believer, I mistreat God. "....Inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the lease of these, you did not do it to Me" (vs. 45). This is a sobering teaching. My attitude toward other Christians is the same attitude I have toward God, and my reward in heaven will be affected by how I have treated other members of Christ's Body (vss. 34 and 46). I pays to be kind to other Christians.
TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: When a person receives Jesus as Savior, He also gets the Father, the Holy Spirit, and other Believers in the
package.
