PROPHECY FULFILLED
Matthew 1:22-23
"So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 'Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,' which is translated, 'God with us.' "
Jesus was not born into a vacuum. He was born in the context of the Old Testament prophecies. In them God revealed that He would come and dwell with us as a human being. In Matthew's Gospel we will find numerous references to the fulfillment of prophecies given to Israel through the prophets. Our confidence that Jesus is indeed the promised Messiah – God with us – and that the Gospel is true, is based in the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies.
TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: The groundwork for the Messiah is laid in the Old Testament by the prophets who foretold His coming.
