FAITHFUL OBEDIENCE
Matthew 1:24-25
"Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn son. And he called his name Jesus.
Joseph's complete and unquestioning obedience is a model for me. He obeyed the angel's command immediately to marry Mary– without diddling around or second-guessing God's will. He refrained from intimacy until the baby was born, knowing that this child was a God-thing and not of his doing; he did not let his own desires mess up the works. Then he named the baby "Jesus." He could have named him "Joseph Junior," but he acceded to the command of the angel. I'm thankful for people who will live by God's instructions. They are models for future generations. "Oh, may all who come behind us find us faithful. May the fire of our devotion light their way."
TODAY'S PRINCIPLE: Godly people who will obey God's instruction are a model for future generations.
